I Tried Waxing At Home With PearlWax And Here’s How It Went

If you’re anything like me and you love to experiment with various beauty trends, then you’ve probably looked into anything from personalized shampoos to anti-blemish face masks. They’re all enjoyable to try and often not too expensive considering their quality. The newest one — which comes in handy during the lockdown — is a home waxing kit, PearlWax.

In its essence, PearlWax is an at-home waxing kit that comes with a wax warmer, two packs of waxing pearls, and three application spatulas. On its website, the company claims that the whole process is easy and pain-free, resulting in silky smooth skin. What’s more, the wax can be applied to all skin areas, even the most sensitive ones and it doesn’t require paper strips — it hardens on your skin and you simply rip it off afterward. Bonus: PearlWax offers free worldwide shipping!

I’ve always been on the search for a painless method for hair removal, especially on my legs. So, after seeing the ad for this product pop up on my Instagram, I purchased their starter kit.

The package shipped almost instantly, I received it within 2 days. The wax warmer itself is very light and there’s nothing complicated about its use — you simply take the lid off, pour in the wax pearls, close the lid, and turn it on. The spatulas come in three shapes and you can pick and choose which ones you want.

The first time I tried it I was concerned with the temperature of the wax since I didn’t want to burn myself. However, after the pearls melt and as long as you follow the instructions, it’s almost impossible to burn yourself. This alone makes it a safe and effective hair removal method.

To my surprise, but just as promised, waxing using PearlWax is completely painless. It removes all the hair and doesn’t burn your skin, which is often a problem with some wax kits that you heat up yourself.

At first, the application process was a bit messy since the wax is rather liquidy. However, after a few tries, I got the hang of it and now it’s fast and efficient. One pro tip though: After the pearls melt, set a lower temperature than the instructions suggest since that makes the wax more manageable but still as effective.

When it comes to affordability, the starter kit is the most expensive one since it includes the wax warmer. However, the wax pearls aren’t too pricey considering that they will last you a long time and waxing isn’t an everyday treatment. When I ran out of the first two packs of waxing pearls, I ordered a bundle package that is often on sale.

PearlWax is a great hair removal method if you are exhausted from shaving almost every day or are looking for a long-term solution. After a waxing session, your hair will not grow back for at least two weeks or more (you have to get two or three treatments before though).

Personally, I’m very happy with PearlWax and highly recommend giving it a shot. Waxing can be intimidating and scary, but with some experience and practice, you will be the master of it!
