4 Non-Essential Things People Have Spent Their Money On During The Pandemic

As you walk the aisles at your local stores, you may begin noticing some interesting products missing from the shelves. This pandemic has been quite interesting from the start, with many firsts for many of us. So next time you’re out and about, look around for these few things that seem to be hot buys during the COVID-19 pandemic. And I’m not just talking about the toilet paper issue we have all dealt with.

1. Bicycles

The bike sections at all local stores are always empty lately. This is due to the fact that many families are now taking up bicycling as a way to get out of the house and stay active since many gyms are closed. On top of that, many people are worried about using public transportation so instead, they have begun purchasing bicycles to commute. Many bike shop owners have stated that this is the first time bike sales have been this high!

2. Hot dogs

I know many may get a chuckle out of this but hot dog sales have soared since this pandemic started. Hot dogs are a quick easy meal many can make at home. They have a long shelf life and can be paired with many other side dishes. What’s more, with the schools being closed down, many parents have been purchasing hot dogs as quick, low-cost, and easy meals for their kids.

3. RV/Campers

Many Americans are sick and tired of being cooped up in their homes or with their annoying roommates. Likewise, many people want to take their summer vacations but most hotels are closed and flights are not available. So, here comes the solution: RVs and campers. Many state parks have reopened, making camping and sightseeing easy in an RV.

4. Video games

A popular video game that has cleared the shelves is Animal Crossing for Nintendo Switch. With many people in search of entertainment, this is no surprise to many. This game also allows you to play with friends so it has made it easier for people to keep in touch.

Many products have been in popular demand since the pandemic has begun. Many people have panic-bought objects such as toilet paper and other essentials. I personally got a bicycle since this all started to keep active and to be able to spend time outside. What are some things that you have purchased that may seem not so normal during this pandemic? Tell us in the comments!
