6 Shows To Binge-Watch & What Food To Pair It With

Although communities around the world are beginning to find a new sense of normalcy, many people still have extra free time. Many are filling at least some of this time with streaming TV shows and cooking. So what better way to pass time than to combine the two?

Here are six at-home meals or snacks you can pair with popular shows on Netflix and Disney+.

Atypical and Pizza

Atypical is the perfect show to watch when you want to order a pizza with your closest friends and just hang out. The show follows a high school senior, Sam Gardner, on his journey to find love like any other high schooler. However, Sam also has an extra challenge that other high schoolers don’t have when dating: Sam has autism. The show follows his high school journey, but also includes family and friendship drama. It makes for the perfect show to watch together with friends and pizza for a lowkey evening of binge-watching!

Never Have I Ever and Popcorn

Never Have I Ever follows the story of Devi Vishwakumar, a young Indian American girl who lost her father. She is navigating the ins and outs of life as a high school student while grieving the loss of her parent. This show is an emotional rollercoaster that will have you experiencing a range of emotions, from laughing so hard you’re crying, to ugly sad crying. Since you’ll be so wrapped up in the story, splurge on a nice bag of microwave popcorn that you can munch on mindlessly as you watch.

Special and Ice Cream Sundaes

Special is a Netflix show about Ryan O’Connor who is gay and has Cerebral Palsy. What’s interesting is that he created the show himself and stars as himself. The show is hilarious for all young adults and adults. Moreover, it’s written in a way so that almost anyone could relate to it, even if you aren’t a part of the LGBTQIA+ or disability community. It is full of workplace and relationship drama that will leave you laughing. Since the show is pretty light-hearted in most instances, I would pair it with an equally light-hearted, fun, dessert – ice cream sundaes!

Lady and the Tramp and Italian Food

Both the original and live-action remake of Lady and the Tramp include an Italian background with the food, restaurants, and scenery we see throughout the movie. So why not cuddle up for a date night with your significant other and enjoy some spaghetti and meatballs (or any other Italian cuisine) together? You can even recreate the spaghetti scene if you feel so inclined.

Wreck It Ralph/Ralph Breaks the Internet and Candy

Anyone who has seen the Wreck It Ralph movies knows that the Sugar Rush game is full of candy, which makes it the perfect snack to watch Ralph and Vanelope Von Schweetz take on the other Sugar Rush girls and strengthen their bond. The story of Ralph and Vanelope is a story of friendship and love, and one that many can relate to. So why not grab some candy and watch with your best friend? I can guarantee it’ll leave you appreciating that you have your friend along for the crazy ride that is life.

Star Wars and Blue Milk, and Ronto Wraps

The Star Wars universe certainly has some great food and drinks to accompany the storyline across its nine films. One of these drinks is blue milk, made famous by Oga’s Catina. The human version of blue milk is made with coconut and rice milk. So if you’re lactose intolerant, you can still enjoy them! Another option to add is Ronto Wraps (get the recipe from Disney!), which have roast pork, grilled pork sausage, peppercorn sauce, combined with tangy coleslaw.

No matter the occasion or what TV shows you’re streaming, there’s a meal to match it! Let us know in the comments what your favorite show or movie to stream is, and what snack or meal you’d pair with it!
