When I Say ‘I Love You,’ This Is What I Really Mean

I love you

I’ve never tried to hide how I feel about you, and I hope you know that. When I say I love you, what I really mean is that I care for and trust you, and I want to share a part of my life and soul with you.

When I say these words, rest assured that what I really mean is that I want to be with you for the rest of my life. And even if I could choose anyone, I would always choose you.

I love you. And I hope that not a single moment goes by that you’re not reminded of it.

I love you because you are good at heart. Because you are so adorable and beautiful. Because your eyes say everything I want to know and because you occupy all the spaces in my heart.

I love you because you never let me get scared of the words I always want to express. Because you say it back, and oh, how I adore the sounds leaving the curves of your lips.

I love you for bringing out the best in me and for making my life beautiful and worth living, and for making my heart swell with happiness.

I love you and I hope you know that. You don’t need to hide your imperfections, flaws, and frailties. I’m going to adore all of them, anyway. It is because these are the things that make you human.

I love you for waking me up with thousands of beautiful words each day – potent and passionate. There is always a paradise in every word you use.

I love you for all the thoughtful gestures, for the small acts of kindness and the passion you have in loving me. I see and feel these when I look into your eyes and every time you look into mine.

I love you just the way you are. I adore everything about you and the way I see the compassionate soul in you.

I love you for giving me the biggest piece of heaven here on earth and for finding comfort in you.

I love you for the first time you ran your fingers over my skin.

I love you because we are both flawed and imperfect humans.

I love you because you are not a fantasy. Not a dream and not an illusion but a reality.

I love you because I am very lucky to have you in my life. And I want to share a beautiful life with you as well.

I love you for putting yourself through hell just to make me happy when nothing seems to be going right for me and when I’m battling with my own demons.

I love you when you wrap your arms around me with reassurance and comfort, lifting me out of my darkness.

I love you because when you start kissing me, you’re kissing all my worries and pain away.

And when I say these words, I am making a promise to care for you forever and I am saying it in the simplest way. I want to hold you with all the affection that’s in my heart. It means I want to be with you forever and share everything with you. It means I want to crawl inside your skin to be with you until the end of time.

When I say these few little words, I choose to care for you, all of you, with all my heart. When I say it, I apologize for all my shortcomings and all the times I took you for granted. You are God’s gift to me, and I will never regret a single moment of my life because of you.

There are no rules. No ifs. No buts. No whys. Just love. One that grows, that never hurts. A feeling that’s not scary or difficult, but one that exists.

And that’s just one inch of what I mean when I say, ‘I love you.’ I don’t know if I have words for the rest.
