10 Surprising Connections Between Famous People

Hollywood is about to look a whole lot smaller. Thanks to social media, we are able to see which celebrities mingle in the same circles and whose family members also have limelight talent. Using the word ‘famous’ loosely, some surprising connections were identified. This list contains a few fun facts to know and convincing evidence to the six degrees of separation idea. Find out what the deal is between these celebs.

1. Cassie Randolph and Gregg Sulkin

Apparently, The Bachelor winning contestant and the actor are pretty tight. Cassie’s sister is Michelle Randolph, a model who is dating Gregg. They hang out a lot, causing the bachelor Colton Underwood to become super close with Gregg. Paparazzi even caught them before the season was over, which spoiled the ending of the reality show for many fans.

2. Kate Spade and David Spade

Even though the two celebrities shared a last name, many people didn’t know they were relatives until Kate passed away in 2018. David paid tribute to her on his Instagram and spoke about her during interviews last year. The late designer was married to David’s brother, Andy Spade.

3. Drew Scott and April Phan

You might recognize only Drew and Linda as the adorable couple featured in the Property Brothers series. However, look closer. The girl who resembles Linda is her sister, April Phan. She got her 15 minutes of fame by being a contestant on season 3 of The Bachelor Canada, dating former professional baseball player Chris Leroux. Unfortunately, she was eliminated early on in week 3.

4. Karlie Kloss and Jared Kushner

People often forget that Karlie Kloss is married to Joshua Kushner, the brother of the senior advisor to President Donald Trump, Jared Kushner. Karlie and her husband have been supportive of gun control, a cause that seems to clash with the Trump administration. In addition, during the 2016 campaign, a spokesman for Joshua Kushner told Esquire that Josh will not be voting for Trump since he considered himself a lifelong Democrat. Thanksgiving must be awkward.

5. Tracee Ellis Ross and Ashlee Simpson

Of course, everybody knows actress Tracee Ellis Ross is the daughter of the famous Diana Ross. What people don’t realize is that her brother, Evan Ross, is married to the 2000s singer Ashlee Simpson. This makes them sisters-in-law!

6. Constance Wu and Jim Sturgess

After Crazy Rich Asians released, actor Jim Sturgess (21) wrote a wholesome post about Constance Wu on his Instagram account. According to the post, Constance was working in the production office of an independent film he was on in 2013. Her responsibility was to drive Jim around on set. Be nice to everyone, you never know who they’ll turn out to be!

7. Elizabeth Gillies and Jackson Gillies

The Dynasty star isn’t the only talented singer in the family (remember her vocals on Victorious?). Her cousin, Jackson, auditioned in a recent episode of American Idol and earned a ticket to Hollywood. This was not Jackson’s first time on a singing competition. Elizabeth congratulated him on Instagram for winning Santa Barbara’s Teen Star in 2016.

8. Meghan Markle and Ben Mulroney

Before the Duchess was royalty, she was working in Toronto as an actress and socializing within the Canadian entertainment industry. Meghan became bffs with fashion stylist Jessica Mulroney, who is married to Ben Mulroney, the host of eTalk and son of former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney. In Canada, it made headlines that the current Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, wasn’t invited to the royal wedding while the Mulroney family was there. Their children were part of the wedding party. Lucky!

9. Haley Lu Richardson and Brett Dier

During the press tour for Five Feet Apart, the actress admitted that she was the one who proposed to her fiance, Brett Dier, the actor who plays Michael in Jane the Virgin. We didn’t even know they were dating in the first place! Anyhow, Haley revealed that Brett said she reminds him of his dog. Love is weird.

10. Rob Schneider and Elle King

You know him as the dude from The Hot Chick but now you’ll also know him as the dad of Elle King, singer of “Ex’s and Oh’s.” Apparently, the singer appeared as a Girl Scout selling cookies in her father’s movie, Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo, when she was a kid. Based on Elle’s Instagram posts, the father and daughter are still close today.

There are many more low key relationships between celebs. For instance, director Steven Spielberg is the stepfather of Jessica Capshaw, the actress who played Arizona Robbins in Grey’s Anatomy. However, Jessica doesn’t post photos of him. You can only spot them together on the red carpet in some occasions. Whatever the reason is for keeping it out of social media, it’s interesting to see how members of Hollywood are connected, especially when their relationships have been right under our noses!
