Last night marked the 61st Grammy Awards to celebrate the past years successful musicians, producers and songs. Obviously musics biggest night also created the perfect occasion for the stars to get dressed up and showcase their best fashion choices as well. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint.
In years past we’ve seen a lot of nearly nude, skin tight, high leg slits and a whole lot of elaborate glam. However, last night we saw a fair amount of modesty where we didn’t rely on the celebrities bodies to make the outfits look good; the clothing truly had a moment to shine.
We saw dramatic trains and accents, long sleeves and plenty of haute couture (which we usually only see at the Oscars, not the Grammys). The industries leading stars truly had some huge fashion moments and they need to be recognized.
Here are the best dressed:
The pant suit is just stunning, her hair was simple yet finally looked clean and her shoes were adorable (they had her initials on the back). She easily won this category and best performance for her duet with Shawn Mendes.
I loved this stunning look on her and thought it brought the right amount of glam, creativity and wow factor for the event. This look was meant to be, honey!
She truly is a star, and her outfit (and breath taking performance) proved just that and then some. If only she wore Ally’s Grammy dress from A Star Is Born instead, then it really would have come full circle.
I don’t usually like sunglasses at these events, but they matched her purple Coach ensemble and it totally completed this boss lady look.
Although she isn’t a musician and wasn’t taking stage to perform, she did announce on the grand stage. And she looked damn good doing it. Plus she got the tiny barrette memo because that was one of the hottest accessories of the night.
This nude toned dress was right on trend with the colour of the night, and I loved how she paired it with an orangey red lip and very simple hair. She let her dress have a moment and looked fabulous.
One kiss may be all it takes to fall in love with her, but this dress says otherwise. She came looking like a winner and she left like one too after a killer performance and best new artist win. She came to shine!
But not all stars were able to shine like an award.
Here are the worst dressed:
She’s not well known for whatever it is she does, but this uncalled for political statement gown will make her a little well known today. While it was creative and witty, this was just not the place to bring it up and didn’t match the mood of the event.
If she didn’t have the hat than I would have loved this look a lot more. But the hat just hid her beautiful face and seemed awkward.
I still don’t like her blonde hair, and I really don’t like her dress. She’s usually so much better than this, but she looks like Squidward when he ate too many Krabby Pattys, or a paint roller.
First of all, she showed up late. But it wasn’t fashionably. She looked almost as worst than Kim at the Met Gala when she attempted to wear sleeves. I just hate this look and how depressed she looked in every picture.
She looks like she’s from a scene in the Little Mermaid where she’s coming out of a shell to sing, or that her dress kept falling down and looked incomplete. I don’t like it like that.
All in all the red carpet was a delight to watch as much as the award show was. If I could list off all of the beautiful performance outfits I could go for days because they were just as stunning as the ones people wore on the red carpet.
We’ll be back in two weeks for the Oscars, so stay tuned for more swoon worthy and gag worthy outfits.
