Popular Movie Releases From 2018 That You Should Watch In 2019

“A Star Is Born” (Rated R)

This romantic drama, a revival of a 1970’s classic, was released in theatres on October 5th, 2018. Bradley Cooper directed and starred in this tearjerker, alongside Lady Gaga.This 2 hour,  16 minute movie is sure to capture your full attention.

With her musical talent, Ally (Lady Gaga) catches Jack’s (Bradley Cooper’s) attention within the first few minutes of the movie. Jack is a successful musician, Ally is a struggling artist, and soon, Jack decides to lend Ally a hand in jump-starting her career.

Throughout the movie, the two music lovers fall crazy in love with each other as they pursue their musical dreams. With Jack’s help,  Ally quickly rises to stardom in the music industry. Still, Ally battles to help Jack through his own inner demons: addiction and mental health struggles.

“Ocean’s Eight” (Rated PG-13)

“Ocean’s Eight” is a perfect blend of action, crime,  comedy, and female empowerment. This movie stars Sandra Bullock, who plays the role of Debbie Ocean, a recently incarcerated criminal looking to organize the biggest, most flawlessly executed con of her life. Debbie rounds up an all-female crew to attempt a jewel heist at one of the most glamorous events of the year: the New York Met Gala.

Each member of Debbie’s diverse team of unlikely criminals has their own set of hidden talents to lend to this high-stakes heist. Even though these women all come from different backgrounds, they work in perfect unison and bond over their criminal status, sharing laughs at each other’s expense along the way.

If you’re looking for a feel-good movie that you can watch with your friends as you sit around in your pajamas and drink several glasses of wine, “Ocean’s Eight” is the perfect pick for you. Watch trailer below:

“Searching” (Rated PG-13)

This thriller follows a 16-year-old girl who goes missing her father’s journey to find her. At the beginning of the movie, David Kim (John Cho) and his daughter Margot (Michelle La) share an incredibly close bond. However, Margot’s depression and grief over her mother’s death isolates her from her beloved father. One day, she decides to cut herself off from the world entirely without any trace of her whereabouts.

After a few days of not hearing from his daughter, David Kim goes on a social media hunt and contacts a private investigator to help him find his daughter. The hunt lasts for a long time and includes many twists and turns that no one would expect. So, if you are in the mood for a suspenseful movie, “Searching” just might be the one for you!
