To The Girl I Care Most For, Always Remember That I Love You

Being in a relationship (especially a long-distance one) is far from easy, especially when having autism. One night I was struggling with how much I miss and love my girlfriend. I would ask myself “Am I good enough for anyone?” including her. Will I continue to be good enough for her? I’m sure many of you can relate.

So, I decided to write something to help me feel better and to show her how much I love her. This is a short poem dedicated to my girlfriend.

Curly black hair

Up in the air

My eyes go dazzling around

Tall girl, high heels

Walks like hot wheels

The finest girl in town

Red lips lady

Just don’t be shady

You’re not Pennywise the Dancing Clown

But you’re my girlfriend

Until the deep end

Get the Princess Crown

Doubting the white dress

Saying you’re a mess

Doubting your beauty queen

Crying in tears

Facing your peers

Saying that you’re too lean

I pull you to safety

So you don’t get hasty

And think you’ll become too mean

I love you deeply

And it’ll never be briefly

And I’ll always be that ordinary teen

Walking the beach

Aiming to reach

My arm to hold my hand

Around you turn

Don’t crush and burn

We aim to share a kiss

Lipstick on my face

It wasn’t a race

I didn’t even miss

Goodbye for now

I’ll take the bow

I’ll be back on Valentine’s Day

I’m beyond amazed

Not confused and dazed

I love you is what I have to say!

I felt better after writing that poem and I recommend you try it for the person you care most about too. It’s a great way to try to express yourself and your feelings for that special person.

And, this poem helped really make me see and feel how lucky I am to have her as my girlfriend. It’s clear to me there’s no one else. When I process those words in my own mind, I wonder what I did to deserve you. I may have to process them over and over again. But when those word stay in my brain, I will finally know I’m good enough. I won’t doubt myself or try too hard anymore. I will know.

P.S. You’re my soulmate, my best friend, and my everything for the rest of my days here on this earth! I love you.
