In this world you are going to meet a lot of people. Some are short, or tall. Quiet or loud. Mean or nice. But, you are also going to meet people who are clumsy. I am one of those people. I know you probably think “oh, aren’t clumsy people also considered dumb?” Well, yes that is a stereotype for clumsy people but, you have to remember clumsy people have it tough! We walk into walls, trip over flat surfaces, and fall up and down the stairs. And that’s a good day for us. Here are some things that only people who are clumsy will be able to relate to.
1. You don’t do stairs
Whenever I find out that I need to go down a flight of stairs I cringe. I don’t know what it is but I cannot walk up or downstairs because I manage to trip over my own two feet! I thankfully haven’t fallen down the stairs yet, but I’ve had a few experiences where I almost have… All I can say is thank god for handrails!!
2. You’re always spilling things
So every morning I have to get my morning coffee, but being a clumsy person it doesn’t usually go too well. The amount of times I’ve had coffee in my hand on the table and it crashes to the floor is really sad (Really big shout out to my coworkers who have helped me clean up the mess when it happens, I love you guys!)
3. You’re always walking into things
Walls, tables, chairs, you name it. It’s like, I see the chair, I know that there is no reason for me to walk into the chair so I move to the side and end up walking into the chair anyway. I seriously don’t know what it is. I’ve jokingly been told by friends and family that I need to be wrapped in bubble wrap with caution tape, and start wearing a helmet. And I’m starting to think that they may be right.
4. “I’m sorry, did you ask me if I play sports?”
I’m not sure if this is a problem all clumsy people have or just a “me” problem. Sports and me do not mix. I’ve tried I’ve really tried but I always somehow end up getting hurt whether the ball hits me in the head or I end up running into another person (I’ve been slapped the face while playing basketball before). If you ever see me with a ball in my hand, run because there’s a good chance I’ll end up hurting you as well.
5. You trip over flat surfaces
I do this on a daily basis, and I have no idea why I’ll just be walking and will stumble. When I look down there won’t be anything around me.
6. Kids laughing at you
I work with kids, and believe me I love what I do and the kids I work with. But I think you know you’re a total spaz when kids are laughing at you for tripping over your own two feet. I worked with a student who was so used to me tripping and crashing into things that when it would happen they would just look at me and start laughing. Whoops.
7. Mystery Bruises
I have no idea how these happen. All I do is look down at my leg, or my arm and see a bruise. I’ll have no idea where it came from or how long it’s been there I’ll just know that it’s there and it hurts.
8. Your nicknames are usually “spaz” or “accident prone”
I’ll be walking with my friends and crash into a door and they’ll just look at me and be like “spaz” yeah, you get the picture here.
9. You’re known as the “clumsy” friend!
Everywhere I go I trip on something, and my friends are no longer shocked when this happens. Sometimes they’ll make sure that I’m okay. But for the most part they just crack up laughing at me. It’s really not that funny, guys! Okay, it is pretty funny, but please, just make sure I’m ok before you start laughing at me.
So, yeah the life of a clumsy person can be pretty tough at times we have to watch what we do or where we go at all times because if we don’t? It’s not going to be a good situation. But hey, at least we can laugh at ourselves (for the most part!)
