Netflix Leaves Fans In Tears By Announcing Last Season Of OITNB

If you are anything like me, you’ve been captivated by the drama in Litchfield over the last 6 seasons of Netflix’s original series, “Orange Is The New Black.” Fans have speculated when the wild ride of prison life would finally end, and yesterday we got our answer through a heartfelt video made by some of our favorite women of OITNB.

Show creator Jenji Kohan hinted at the possibility of the series ending sooner than expected after Season 5’s prison riot got mixed reviews. The show’s first four seasons received between 94% and 98% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, but declined to a mere 73% in seasons five.

Kohan shared the following on Wednesday with the video release, “After seven seasons, it’s time to be released from prison. I will miss all the badass ladies of Litchfield and the incredible crew we’ve worked with. My heart is orange but fade to black.”

We may not have a concrete outline of how OITNB will end, but we do know that Season 7 will follow our leading lady Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling) outside of the walls of Litchfield. Season 6 ended with Chapman’s early release, leaving us to wonder what writers had planned for Season 7.

Fans are obviously heartbroken and “bleeding orange” after the touching video announcement ending their beloved OITNB.

Leading lady Taylor Schilling has yet to make any formal announcements regarding the series ending, but in an interview back in August, she promised that Season 7 of OITNB will be filled with lots of drama that includes her character, series protagonist Piper Chapman.

Though an exact release date has yet to be announced by Netflix, die-hard fans know that new seasons traditionally drop between mid-June and July. Until something more specific breaks, fans of the ladies of Litchfield will be eagerly awaiting Summer, 2019 to get our final fill of Chapman, Vause, Red, Taystee, and the rest.
