Why You Should Never Binge TV Shows

I have always been a fan of the Netflix and Amazon Prime series that they have to offer, but I have had never been a fan of binge watching. Binge-watching isn’t really all that good for your body or your entertainment. You’re probably wondering why wouldn’t you be a fan of binge-watching a TV Series, all people your age do it, it’s the usual thing.

You’re right it is a reasonable thing to do when you’re in your early 20s. Especially if you’re a college student and have had an interest in certain TV shows, but there are also downsides to binge watching.

What would they be you ask? Well, the simple fact is that when people binge-watch a television show, in the end, you could be doing more productive things within a day, even more so if you have tasks to complete.

I know from experience that binge-watching can affect your mindset from school, and work. It can pile on the extra work you have to do,  especially when you’re doing online college. When you lose track of your schedule and what you’re supposed to be doing during the day, it becomes more frustrating for you.

For example, just a few months ago I started to watch Breaking bad and that’s fine but I became so invested, and let myself forget my other tasks that I needed to do.  Aka study, and then I realize I had a quiz. Which I got a 70% on all because I was so into watching Breaking bad that I lost track of my studies. While a 70% might not be the worst grade ever, I truly was disappointed in myself because I did poorly by my standards. All because of the I lacked my responsibilities as a college student.

It’s important to me, as a young woman as well. I’m supposed to be focused on these goals in life more so than ever and not worry about a tv show that could wait till later. That’s the most important lesson I learned from my binge-watching experience.

Which is why in all seriousness, I don’t agree with binge-watching. Because it makes you unproductive in any task you have to do during your day,

But besides losing focus upon your academics when you binge watch you lose the chance to sit back and enjoy the rest of the series later.

Like when Orange Is The New Black first came out, I watched the first season in one day and was disappointed when I had no more to watch. This meant I had longer to wait till the next season came out. Let’s be honest, waiting for a new season is the worst! Quite frankly, I was mad at myself for watching the whole season in one-day. Taking your time on a TV show lets you get excited for what happens next and you can truly analyze all you watch if you do it in moderation.

Where compared to it if you binge watch you’re not going to get the purpose of the episode or the message the show is trying to tell its viewers. Maybe it’s because I’m a writer but I can really relate to that aspect of watching tv series. I want to appreciate what the writers of the show did, after all, they did take a lot of time to write the episodes.

I hope you enjoyed my article on why you shouldn’t binge watch on a TV show.
