To The Kids Who Had To Sit Out And Watch Others Play At Recess

Dear friend,

I understand how you feel sitting in the shade while all your friends play, having a fun time wishing you could be a part of it.

I’m here to tell you I know how you feel because I was once in that position where your heart shatters as you watch your friends play on the monkey bars and swings, and you wish you can be just like everyone else.

I’m here to tell you that it is all going to be okay. You’re a real warrior, don’t you ever forget that. God made you this way because he has a purpose for you. You may not realize it now.

As you sit there in tears thinking, “Why doesn’t anybody want to play with me or why doesn’t anyone understand that just because I’m in a wheelchair doesn’t mean I can’t play?” And you ask yourself why was I made this way? You were made this way for a reason. You were made this way because God knew that you can handle your condition, disability no matter whether it’s cerebral palsy, spina bifida or muscular dystrophy.

Just remember throughout all this, you’re a warrior and that someday you will be telling this story– how you had to sit out on field day or at recess to make the world a better place and to give children a better understanding on what it’s like to have special needs.

You can be the someone that others would look up to based on the struggles in the obstacles that you face on a day-to-day basis. Don’t be angry at the situation, use this time to show kids that you are just like them. Just because you use a wheelchair to get around doesn’t mean you are any different from them.

Know that you are awesome in your own way and that you will overcome the struggle and the obstacles you have in front of you. This is just one of the minor things you can use to change the world in your own way in just a matter of time,

So don’t you give up, because you are a strong warrior that will soon be an inspiration to others.
