7 Ways To Treat Your Straight Hair The Way It Deserves To Be Treated

I don’t know how many times I hear “you’re so lucky to have naturally straight hair.” Well, guess what? I wish I had wavy hair. My hair will not even hold a curl, and if my hair is tied up? You guessed it, I will have a crease in my hair once I take it out, even if it was up for only five minutes. With all the good and the bad of straight hair, we could use all the help we can get so here are a couple ways to embrace your naturally straight hair by looking after it properly.

1. Ditch the heat.

I have not used heat on my hair for over a year, and it’s my best advice. My hair is so much healthier now. I hardly ever get split ends now, and it grows fast, healthy, and strong!

2. Say no to static.

During the winter months, my hair turns to static. Nobody likes that clingy feeling, right? Carry around dryer sheets. All you have to do is run it through your hair, and viola, static gone!

3. Keep baby powder with you.

Having straight hair means you have to wash it every single day. Which is fine. But if you’re running busy, baby powder will be your friend. Sprinkle some on your head, and you’ll watch the grease go away.

4. Braid your hair.

It’s hard to style your hair when it’s straight because curls fall out right away. Something all I do is braid my hair and put hairspray in it. While you’re getting ready leave it in, and take it out right before you leave the house. You will have beachy waves!

5. Wait until your hair is dry.

Straight hair is prone to split ends. One way to reduce this is to stop brushing your hair when it’s still wet.

6. Don’t wrap your hair in a towel.

After you get out of the shower you should let your hair air dry or gently squeeze the towel around your hair. If you rub the towel or do a towel turban it could cause your hair to break causing split ends and damage.

7. Use oil.

Straight hair is delicate and can break easily as I’ve mentioned previously. Once a week put olive oil in your hair and leave it in for 45 minutes. Wash it out by shampooing twice, and don’t use conditioner. Your hair will be silky and smooth.

Our naturally straight hair will do what it wants when it wants. I think it’s time we come to terms with that and treat it the way we are supposed to. Embrace it, ladies! Some people wish they had our locks. At the end of the day, we should be happy with what we’ve got. I’m sure many of us want wavy, or curly hair and those ladies may want straight hair! Rock what you have.
