10 Reasons Thanksgiving Is The Best Holiday Of All

The weather is getting colder, the leaves are almost all gone, and the night comes sooner than before. The beginning of the holiday season is finally among us, and I could not be more excited. Growing up, I always said that Christmas was my favorite holiday because of the joyful attitudes, the decorations, and of course the presents. Now that I am older, I take that back and say Thanksgiving is by far my favorite holiday. There are so many great things to love about this holiday, and here are just 10 reasons explaining why it is the best.

1. The Food

I mean this is an obvious one. The amount of food that you can stuff in your face is endless, not to mention it tastes amazing. You think the star of the show would be the turkey, but honestly, the side dishes are what make my heart beat faster.

2. Family

Today is the day you get to see your extended family that you may not usually get the opportunity to see. Getting to see your aunts, uncles, and cousins is always a fun time especially if you have a big, crazy family and now drama will happen. Dinner and a show!

3. Friendsgiving

Before heading back home to see your family for Thanksgiving you get to celebrate with your friends which mean two rounds of turkey and stuffing. Friendsgiving allows you to celebrate with your second family with everyone cooking, drinking and listening to festive music.

4. Leftovers

You don’t just get to have this dinner once. It’s almost impossible for all the food to be gone and have zero leftovers. You can reheat all the food the next day, and get creative with those turkey and cranberry sauce sandwiches.

5. Drinking Excessively and No One Saying a Word

For starters, you can day drink and no one can make a judgment about it! Well, okay, they could but I doubt anyone would take it seriously. You can also drink an excessive amount to celebrate during dinner and have some after-dinner-drinks too.

6. Pumpkin Pie

Okay, so basically all desserts in generally, but there is something about a good slice of pumpkin pie that satisfies my taste buds. I guess I can thank my inner white girl for that one.

7. Beginning of the Holiday Season

Once Christmas and New Years rolls around you know that the holiday season has come to an end, but with Thanksgiving, it’s just the beginning! It’s sad when Thanksgiving does end, but then you are reminded that Christmas and New Years are right around the corner.

8. Football

Whether you’re watching it on television or playing it with your cousins you get two great American traditions in one day; what more could you ask for?

9. No One Judging You for How Much You Eat

Stuffing your face with turkey and one too many sides, then going for seconds, then eating dessert is usually seen as barbaric, but on Thanksgiving, it is totally acceptable.

10. Remembering to Be Grateful

In our day to day lives, we can easily take the little things for granted and forget to tell our loved ones how much we are grateful to have them in our lives. Thanksgiving allows us to remember that we should be thankful for all the blessings we are given.

I hope everyone has an amazing holiday season filled with family, friends, and positive attitudes. Don’t forget to enjoy stuffing your face with turkey and pumpkin pie, before New Years rolls around and you make a resolution to eat healthier and get a gym membership. Remember to give thanks for all big and little things that you have in your life during this holiday season.
