3 Things About Fall That Makes Coping With Stress Easier

The cold weather has started encroaching it’s way upon us; the leaves are changing color and it is without a doubt sweater weather. Besides the obvious beauty that accompanies this season, there are a few other major benefits.

Most importantly, autumn makes coping with the never-ending stressors that accompany everyday life just a bit easier!

  1. The Seamless Morning

I think we all know that groggy feeling when you wake up and dread the moment where you have to escape the warmth of your bed and face a long day of work or school in the dead cold of winter. Even worse is leaving the precious AC behind just to break out in sweat the moment you exit the door. Some of that fatigue might even carry on until around noon, which is then followed by an attempt to compensate and catch up on the work you should have done that morning.

Then fall comes, and there is just something about that crisp morning air that wakes you up quickly. It’s not so cold that you run to your car in hopes to escape hypothermia. Yet, it’s just cold enough to prick your eyes, add some color to your cheeks and make you grasp your coffee a little tighter. This always makes for a more productive and satisfying day, and a lot less stress come nighttime.

  1. Saying Goodbye To Those Judgemental Looks

The end of summer always comes with a unanonymous sigh across all parties. The heat is gone and with that… so is bikini season. I don’t know about everyone else, but that doesn’t sound half bad to me. Society is constantly putting emphasis on how we look, what we wear, how we wear it, and essentially everything that accompanies someone’s “image”, and nowhere is this worse than at the beach.

This is where fall comes in, with boots, leggings, oversized sweaters, and a cozy scarf. In the ten seconds it takes to throw together one of these simple and comfortable outfits, you will feel confident all day. Best of all, it won’t take up half hour of your morning as you try on 20 outfits and throw several items across your room, and you will have extra time to check a few to do’s off the list!

  1. Leaving The Past In The Past

Spring may be the fresh start, the time for new growth and rebirth, but autumn is the time to let all the bad things die off. If you’re carrying around the weight of a break up, it’s time to let it go. If you’re holding a grudge against a friend who is no longer in your life, it’s time to let it go. If you’re being burdened with guilt or regret, it’s time to let it go. It’s time to stop stressing over the past, because it’s out of your control.

Autumn is the time to move forward in acceptance and, like the trees, you must let this extra weight go, because there will be new growth ahead.

Despite the busyness that accompanies this season, there is more than enough positive things to look forward to. Pumpkin flavored everything, fall scented candles, brand new seasons of the best tv shows, your weight’s worth of turkey, the presence of mini pumpkins (my personal favorite), Halloween, and the upcoming holiday season! It may be easy to get caught up in the stress, but every time it gets to be just a little too much for you, stop what you’re doing, grab a hot apple cider and go for a walk and enjoy how incredible the world looks as it changes around you because stress isn’t going to get the better of us this season.
