30 Things Every College Student Feels When School Starts Again

Back to school is sadly right around the corner, and even though I’m not going back, I know many who are. I can’t help but feel a bit nostalgic about the glory years. We all have our moments of pure excitement to see our friends, meet new ones, go to the bar on a Thursday between classes, and cry our eyes out due to stress, but all of that is what makes us love it so much! Here’s 30 things all college students genuinely understand and relate to.

  1. The struggle of navigating yourself around campus for the first two weeks, but being so excited to be there.

  1. Teaching freshmen the ropes like you’re a prof…

  1. When you have to buy textbooks, pay rent, and order delivery all in one day.

  1. Thinking “I wonder if there’s going to be someone hot in this lecture” on the first day of every class, but reminding yourself not to sleep around… That much.

  1. Walking down a hallway or old staircase and praying you don’t get murdered.

  1. “Well, we have our next class in 3 hours, wanna go to the bar?” “Yes.”

  1. Praying you can afford food after a big weekend out

  1. “I FORGOT ABOUT THAT PROJECT, WHEN’S IT DUE!?”

  1. Having a prof who stands at the front of the lecture hall and counts down how long you have to hand in your paper.

  1. Discovering you have new talents.

  1. “Class is cancelled” emails are better than “Good morning” texts.

  1. Forgetting to study.

  1. Having a mental break down on anyone and everyone… including your prof.

  1. Feeling like a lost puppy and calling your mom constantly.

  1. Always seeing the same strangers on your bus loop, in the club, or commons.

  1. Giving up on dressing nice when you have early classes in the winter, because you just can’t be bothered with trekking through the snow, and looking fashionable at 6 AM.

  1. Debating on standing in the line for coffee every morning, or getting someone to get it for you.

  1. Having an amazing prof who is an absolute gem.

  1. Feeling cool AF when you take a sick pic on campus to post on social media.

  1. Going to frosh week…. even if you’re not in first year.

  1. Procrastination Nation at it’s finest.

  1. The feeling when your essay doesn’t save and you were almost done.

  1. Nights like these do happen to you every once in a while.

  1. Hearing the messed up thing’s your friends do. And wishing you’d been there to do it with them.

  1. Seeing anyone who looks like they’re in high school and getting extremely annoyed.

  1. The extremely stressful day of picking your courses, making your timetable, AND trying to be in as many of the same classes as your friends as possible all at one time… While the system crashes.

  1. Pizza becomes your life support.

  1. The binge drinking that occurs once exams are over, and vowing you’re never going back.

  1. Spending your summer working as much as you can to afford your college lifestyle.

  1. Actually looking forward to going back to school.

College is one of the best times of our lives, and no matter where you go to school or what program you’re in, everyone has one of these experiences listed above at least once a semester. To those going back, meet new people and make good choices. And to those going into their first year, may the odds be in your favor, because only the strongest survive. I’m totally kidding, have fun and enjoy the pleasure of frosh week!
