6 Easy Tricks To Becoming YouTube Famous As Told By Cimorelli

What happens when you get the opportunity to chat with a YouTube celeb on a random snow day in January? Well to start you have to do it from your noisy house instead of the classroom you had planned to talk in due to the fact that all academic builds are closed down. Second, you learn some tricks to being successfully YouTube famous.

I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to interview a YouTube band called Cimorelli on that particular snow day. Disclaimer: I totally fangirled out. I was crazy star-struck by them and amazed at how great they were to talk to. I was also amazed at how open they were about sharing their secrets to youtube stardom. There’s a couple star secrets they let me in on:

1. Keep up with the iTunes charts.

Cimorelli creates covers of the music people are currently searching for. Makes a lot of sense right? The more popular the original song is the more likely it is that people search for and stumble across the cover they put up.

2. Stay consistent.

This is how you build your audience and fanbase. Make sure to upload a video on a weekly basis. Humans are creatures of habit so if you post every week, your fans will develop the habit of watching you regularly and will give you diehard fans.

“My advice would be to stay consistent. We would fall into a lull and we’d get to busy and not post a video but that’s not good. The more constantly you can post the more of an audience you can build.” – Christina

3. You don’t have to be a perfectionist.

Of course you want to make good videos with good content, but you don’t have to edit for hours just to get that one tiny detail just right. Most people won’t even notice. Your main concern should just be having fun. No need to agonize over tiny hiccups.

4. Don’t forget to balance out your life.

Keep the normal side of your life for as long as possible because that’s what makes you relatable. It also gives you something to fall back on when being famous becomes overwhelming. The best of both world anyone?

5. Don’t let the negativity get to you.

The world is full of haters and they tend to come out when you start gaining popularity. So what do you do when they clog up your comment section? First don’t entertain them, either delete the comments or ignore them entirely. They aren’t worth it.

“You’re going to get a lot of people who just nitpick and have nothing useful to say and have no other motivation other than to make someone feel bad because they feel bad about themselves.” – Katherine

6. Allow it to impact you.

This thing is going to become part of who you are, exceptionally if you turn it into a career. So let it. Don’t fight it or try to create two separate lives (one you live on camera and the one you live off.) Allow your fan’s stories to become part of your story. Don’t lose who you are completely of course but as it grows allow yourself to grow with it.

“But the thing is I’ve been in it for so long that I can’t even remember what it’s like to not be in it so I don’t even know how it impacted me because it’s just so much a part of me now.” – Lauren

It amazes me sometimes how open our current culture is to raw talent. All it takes to get noticed is some talent and a camera nowadays and I love that. It allows real people with real talent to reach their dreams.

It gives me hope for my own dreams.

Now you have the inside scoop on how real people are working towards their dreams. What’s stopping you from working towards yours?
