If You Weren’t ‘Feeling The Bern’ Before, You Will With This NEW Video

“Our job is not to divide; our job is to bring people together!” proclaims Sanders in his campaign’s newest video, dropped just before he was declared winner of the Democratic primary in New Hampshire.

Sanders’ rough New York accent booms over photos of people of all different races, genders, appearances, and styles. Each photo is ripped in half and placed together, showing two halves of a face coming together to form one whole.

“If we do not allow them to divide us up by race, by sexual orientation, by gender, by whether we were born in America, or whether we are immigrants… When we stand together as white, black, Hispanic, gay, straight, women, and men… When we stand together and demand that this country works for all of us rather than the few, we will transform America.”

“And that is what this campaign is about: bringing people together.”

The video is part of Sanders’ Together.Vote project, which proclaims that “America should work for all of us.”

The cornerstone of Sanders’ campaign is his democratic socialist views, so it’s no surprise to hear such a radical message of community and togetherness – though the idea is enough to make all of my older relatives throw up with anxiety.

For me, I have always been drawn to socialism’s egalitarianism and intention to support everyone, regardless of economic status, if only because they’re a person who deserves dignity. But I’m also no idiot: I studied abroad in Cuba and saw the failures of a communist-socialist model. Socialism doesn’t quite work, but that doesn’t mean we can’t learn from it and take a little more care of our fellow Americans.

Watch Sanders’ video here and share your opinions! Do you think his message is too radical? Too idealistic? Or is it just the right fit at the right time?
