6 Downfalls Of Being In A Committed Relationship With Food

I know I am not the first person to admit this, but regardless, it is something that I need to get out there: I completely, whole-heartedly and indefinitely have a crazy obsession with food. I have tried to eat properly, proportionately, and healthily, but sometimes I just can’t control the urges. And if I am being honest, more often than not, I am coming up with different excuses as to why it’s okay to grab a burger on my way home… I mean let’s face it, we’re all human and we love to enjoy a good meal, whether it be something healthy or good old-fashioned junk food. We can always manage to find a way to convince ourselves it’s okay to eat.

If you’re anything like me, there’s almost nothing that can stop you from satisfying that craving you’re desperately wanting. Level with me and explore the true struggles of being a girl obsessed and utterly in love with food:

1. Gaining weight

I almost never pass an opportunity up to eat. But I’ve slowly started to notice it’s taking a toll on my body. I am starting to gain weight in places I never did before, and I just see my body differently now. Weight is added where I don’t want it to be. Some of it went to my butt, which I’m actually forever thankful for, but on my hips? Yeah, you can go.

2. Feeling lazy

It’s inevitable to start feeling lazy when you’re feeding your body way more often than it needs to be fed. You just naturally start to feel sluggish and tired all the time. There is nothing better than sitting with some food and throwing on an episode of Making A Murderer.

3. Having no self-control

I must admit, it sucks to say yes to almost anything (food wise) someone puts in my face. I am always eager to eat and try new foods. I am kind of picky, so majority of the time I am willing to try it, even though I know I’m going to hate it, just to eat something.

4. Becoming the girl who is always down to order food

You are now the “go-to” for when people want to order food and split it. You will be more than willing to spend a few dollars on a pizza because (let’s not kid ourselves here) you’re hungry, or simply just bored. The two terms are one and the same.

5. You eat even when you’re not hungry

You know when you get home after a long day and realize you did everything you had to that day? You worked out, you went to work, you ate all the meals and snacks you packed, but you get home and just feel like throwing on an episode of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. and grabbing a bowl of whatever you can find, just because… You’re not even hungry, you just want something to nibble on!

6. Money seems to disappear quickly

I would have so much money saved up if I didn’t spend as much as I do on food. It’s always something! Grocery shopping is my favourite because I get overwhelmed with all the food in there and I tend to over spend… I only need so many groceries, but I tend to prepare for an apocalypse every time I go. It’s getting really out of hand – it’s cleared out my bank account. Never mind the drunk nights when I just want a burrito.

There is no doubt that I LOVE FOOD, and after reading this you probably think that all I do is eat. Believe it or not, I exercise a lot because I have to keep making room for the plethora of food I enjoy. I mean, I don’t binge eat; I won’t sit in from of the TV for two hours and go through five bags of chips. It’s not like that. I just eat frequently because there’s always something I am wanting to try or craving to make.

But in all honesty, it’s a real struggle to love food as much as I do. You’re constantly wanting to make something amazing for dinner, thinking of things to eat when you get home, worrying about how much weight you’ll put on if you do, and your bank account that gets drained. There are definitely a lot of factors to consider, but food is just one thing you can’t sacrifice losing.
