Perhaps the most anticipated award will be Best Drama. Due to the timing of its most recent season, Game of Thrones was not eligible to participate in last year. This will mark the first time Hulu’s Handmaid’s Tale and HBO’s Game of Thrones will battle it out for Best Drama. Last year, Handmaid’s Tale won the Emmy for Best Drama, the first streaming platform to receive the title.

Interestingly enough, this year marks the first year Julia Louis Dreyfus was not nominated for Best Actress in A Comedy. However, Rachel Brosnahan is nominated for her first ever Emmy for her excellent job in Marvelous Miss Maisel available on Amazon. After 15 years on Saturday Night Live, Keenan Thompson was finally nominated for Best Actor in A Comedy Series.

This year, the 70th Annual Emmy Awards will be hosted by SNL’s Weekend Update anchors and head writers, Michael Che and Colin Jost. The awards will be broadcast live on NBC on September 17th at 8pm EST. Be sure to check back in for our predictions and coverage of this 2018 awards season.
