Steve Irwin Has Finally Received A Star On Hollywood’s Walk Of Fame

Beloved, missed, and legendary Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin, has finally gotten his well deserved star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His wife, Terri and two children Bindi, 19, and Robert,14, will accept the star on his behalf.

The news broke when Bindi Irwin announced on Twitter that her father would be receiving his long overdue star. It wasn’t hard for fans and followers to understand exactly what she had been talking about.

Russell Crowe recently wrote a letter of recommendation in support of Irwin and his wildlife conservation which helped Steve Irwin earn his long-awaited nomination. Steve Irwin’s star marks the 2,635th star on the Walk of Fame. There are two stars along the Walk of Fame dedicated to Michael Jackson, and many stars marking some family families who are long gone now.

The beloved wildlife warrior died 12 years ago from an diving incident after being stung by a stingray. Thankfully, his wife and children share their fathers infectious enthusiasm for wildlife where they still run Australia Zoo in Queensland.

Since his passing in 2006, the Irwin family continues Steve’s legacy and love of wildlife. Much like his father, who made frequent late night appearances, Robert Irwin keeps the tradition alive on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon with his own display of exotic animals. Bindi has since made various television features including hosting her own show Bindi’s the Jungle Girl and winning Dancing With The Stars after dedicating her adventures and performances to her father.

For those who can’t get enough of this adorable family, you can catch them this fall on Animal Planet in their new show The Irwin FamilyEven though Steve Irwin has been gone for 12 years, his legacy lives on as we all fight to save this planet and the beautiful wildlife on it.
