Why ‘You Do You’ By Sarah Knight Must Be Your Next Binge Read

How to be who you are and use what you’ve got to get what you want.

I’m a heavy reader, but not one that reads a book in one sitting or in a few weeks. I enjoy books and love to read, but if they don’t capture my attention all the way through, I’ll put them down in a heartbeat. Thankfully that wasn’t the case with this novel.

I couldn’t put You Do You by Sarah Knight, down. This novel was finished in 2 days, I brought it everywhere with me, and felt so inspired by each sentence I read. In some ways, I felt connected to Sarah, while reading and laughing with her corny and yet hilarious jokes. Also, I found similarities from her life to my own and the epilogue was spot on with my feelings. Overall this novel was extremely well written and rated a 5/5 in my books.

The focus of this book is to learn how to be yourself and do whatever it is you want. With that being a motto of mine, I felt a strong connection to this novel and feel like that was the reason why I didn’t want to put it down.

The first page has a quote from Dr. Seuss that drew me in right away. “Today you are You! That is truer than true! There is no one alive who is Youer than You!” This was another part of the book that made me think about my own life and the decisions I’m making. In fact, the entire novel did that quite well.

Starting on page 27, Sarah makes you exercise your thoughts while reading the book. In the book she asks you to answer questions and write them down , so you can remember them and go back to them when you need to in different chapters. This is by far my favourite part of the book because you learn about yourself, test your beliefs, test your brain, change your thought process, and learn so much.

This novel has changed my perspective on multiple things. It has changed the way I see people, the way I let people influence me and the way I see the world. How I see myself, now and in the past and lastly it has shaped me into being a happier more efficient person.

Like I said above, I rate this novel a 5/5. I recommend it to anyone in need of a read that’ll make you think and laugh at the same time. To anyone who needs a kick in the ass or a backbone to be able to stand up for themselves against the people who bring them down.

This book, kicks ass. It is so inspiring, real, emotional, soul-connecting, and well rounded. With this being Sarah’s third novel, I can see, 100% why she is a NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author of her other two books; The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving A F*uck, and Get Your Sh*t together. I can see why she has been named a “genius.” from Cosmopolitan, quoted as a “self-help to swear by.” from Boston Globe and, “Hilarious…truly practical” from the booklist. Why you ask? Because she’s the shit to live by. She rocks, and everyone should read her magic. It truly does wonders.

Here’s the link to buy her books… You can thank me later.
