5 Reasons Why You Need To Add Green Tea To Your Morning Ritual

I like a strong, hot cup of jo just as much as the next person, but the coffee jitters can definitely get to you, especially when you drink as much as I do during the school year.  I like to give my body a little break by detoxing with green tea.  Although green tea has caffeine, there is significantly less than in coffee.  Here’s why you need to add a delicious cup of green tea to the start of your day.

  1. Green tea lowers cholesterol

Consuming green tea has been shown to reduce total amounts of low-density lipoprotein (LDL), commonly known as ‘bad’ cholesterol.  By decreasing your cholesterol, you’ll be improving your overall heart health.

  1. Green tea and diabetes

Diabetes is a metabolic disease that raises glucose (sugar) levels in the blood.  The polyphenols in green tea cause vasodilation (widening) of the arteries.  This then helps reduce plaque buildup and decrease blood pressure.

  1. Green tea and your eyes

Green tea is rich in vitamin C and vitamin E.  Along with these vitamins, the antioxidants in green tea strengthen your eye tissues.

  1. Green tea and mental health

Green tea has been shown to decrease feelings of depression and anxiety.  Some researchers found that the more green tea you drink, the less depressed you’ll feel.

  1. Green tea and skin care

Green tea improves the skin complexion and reduces inflammation.  Green tea bags can be used to treat acne and skin conditions with its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.

I hope this convinced you to switch out your daily caffeine dose from coffee to green tea.  Enjoy your new morning drink!

  1. Hi,

Green tea is definitely good for caring the skin. I don’t drink green tea in the morning, instead, I drink warm water with lemon. But I am thinking it over to drink every morning starting tomorrow, it’ll be healthier.
