The Only Beauty Hacks You’ll Want This Summer

With summer in full swing, now is as good a time as any to revamp your beauty routine. None of us want to slave away for hours in the bathroom for our routine, but having a routine is key to any beauty look. Read on to get some fun ideas to make your routine work in the warmer months.

Grab a bronzer or self-tanner.

Summertime means tons of bronzed skin, so to get that glowy look, a bronzer or self-tanner is the way to go! For bronzer, I’d recommend using something matte for your face (so you can contour if you’d like) but something shimmery for your cheeks or body (yes, they do make body bronzers!) – and for self-tanner, I’d recommend a foam or lotion for the body and gel for the face.

Play with color.

I’m talking neons and pastels. Try lavender nails or turquoise eyeshadow. Maybe orange blush or blue mascara. Whatever colors you love, see if there’s some beauty product out there for it. An easy way to experiment is on your nails and your lips, so have fun with it!

Pick cream products.

Normally, creamier products work better for drier skin types. But in this case, cream products adhere to any skin type better in the summer because you need something that’ll be absorbed into the skin before the sun gets to it. Try cream blushes, eyeshadows, and lip stains. Each of these will blend flawlessly into your skin with no chance of making you feel like you’ve got a ton of makeup on.

Heatless hairstyles are your new BFFs.

There are tons of YouTube tutorials out there that showcase these types of hairdos. A few suggestions are braids, ponytails, or buns. If you want to try something beyond the basics, then I’d suggest the rope braid, the braided bun or the fishtail ponytail.

Taking care of your skin is your #1 priority.

It sounds cheesy, but it’s true. Especially in the summertime when the elements can be harsh, it’s very important to protect your skin. Use moisturizer morning and night. Be sure to cleanse your skin twice a day, and if you’re oily, follow up with toner to keep things shine-free. If you want to treat yourself, invest in an eye cream or a sheet mask for some extra pampering.

Don’t forget sunscreen!

Seriously. Sunscreen is crucial. Even if you’ll just be out for a little bit by the pool, slather that stuff on like it’s your job. You’ll thank me later.

With these tips, you’re sure to look good for any occasion. Just put your own spin on these looks and you’ll have a customized summer beauty style that’s all your own. Now go enjoy the sunshine!
