To The Family That Treated Me As One Of Their Own

Moving away from home is a very hard thing to do. For most people, it takes time to learn how to be alone and how to create a home for yourself, somewhere away from your comfort zone. Believe me, I know. It took me six long weeks and I am still not completely there. That is why I am so happy to have you all on my side. I have a good backbone and I have you to thank for that. So this is just a quick thank you, a quick appreciation moment to my second family.

I moved to a different location for more work and adventure opportunities but I didn’t realize you all would come with it, although am I ever so happy you did. I am very close to my family and leaving them was a very hard thing to do. I miss them like crazy but being here and having you all on my side allows me to feel back at home.

My best friend is a very outgoing person, a person that I share so much of the same attributes with, but I did not know how much I’d fall in love with her family too. I love my best friend, no matter what, we are always here for each other but now I have a sense of another family too. So not only do I have a go-to person, I also have a go-to family.

This is just a quick thank you, a quick appreciation moment. When I moved away I thought I was being so independent and so brave. I realize, the longer I am away, the more I’ve grown into a girl I wasn’t when I first moved. With the help of all of you I have been able to transform myself into a better person. A person who thinks about herself every once and while and a person who isn’t afraid to be herself anymore, a person who is confident and brave, a person who loves life.

Thank you for feeding me when I am truly missing home cooked meals. Thank you for being my go to people and thank you for putting a smile on my face every single time I walk into that house. Thank you for the meaningful conversations and the motivation you all give me to follow my dreams; thank you for the ability to challenge myself and thank you for your time. Thank you for challenging me and thank you for pushing me to stand up for what I deserve. You did not have to take me in under your wing and treat me like another child but you did, and I love it. I am ever so grateful.

Without all of you, I would not be enjoying my experience half as much as I do. To my best friend, thank you. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your family and for always being there for me. Thanks for the great memories, for all the laughs, for the late night ice cream dates; you rock and I love you. To my family away from home, thank you, I know I’ve said it about thirty times but it honestly means so much. One more time- just for fun– thank you from the bottom of my heart.
