10 Crazy News Stories You Probably Missed In March

After quite an interesting start to 2017, March’s global news has seemed to have quieted down in the politics department. Between crime and violence, ignorance and misjudgment, and global warming and religious news, there are so many weirdly interesting topics traversing the media worldwide right now.

Here are a few of them:

A ‘Dirty’ Ship Drifting the Seas: A routine cargo ship called the DL Marigold has turned away from ports in both New Zealand and Fiji because the ship was absolutely covered in tube worms and barnacles that risked harm to the nearby marine life.

Rio’s Ongoing Violence Reached a New Low: After police were called to the scene of a car robbery, the scene got out of hand and a little girl was shot in the face on a playset inside a nearby restaurant.

Stockholm is Getting Greener: From household sewage fueled cars, to public waste heated neighborhoods, Stockholm is setting an example for other European cities to follow.

Bolivian Monastery Accepts Dog as Friar: Friar Carmelo, aka Friar Mustache, is a schnauzer who loves to chew on anything he finds and he is well-known for hiding items in the gardens. He is not taking visitors at this time.

Iceland Becomes the First Country to Require Employers to Prove They Offer Equal Pay: Iceland has become the first country to ever make employers prove they offer equal pay regardless of gender, ethnicity, sexuality, or nationality. Some states in the U.S. require equal-gender-pay certificates but Iceland is making mandatory way above and beyond that.

Ben Carson Thinks Slaves and Immigrants are the Same Things: Ben Carson makes the list for his recent blunder. He apparently believes slaves and immigrants are similar. The quote stirring up the trouble is: “A land of dreams and opportunity. There were other immigrants who came here in the bottom of slave ships, worked even longer, even harder for less.”

New Lesbian Drama: A new drama is coming out from HBO and BBC One. What it about? Well, an Heiress is hunting for a wife in the new drama. The show is called Shibden Hall and begins filming next year.

Pair Who Led Racist Attack on Boy’s Party Sentenced to Years in Prison: A couple who led a racist attack on a little boy’s birthday party received their punishment. Each person was sentenced to six years in prison.

Link is Fine as Hell: In Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, newcomers and old time fans of the game are welcoming the new design of Link. They haven’t forgotten his talents or skills while playing though his new chiseled body has a few people distracted on top of his beautiful blue eyes and flowing blond locks.

Beauty and the Beautiful Beast: After Disney fans everywhere stormed the theaters upon the release of the remake of Beauty and the Beast, some unexpected talk arose of the Beast being more attractive than Dan Stevens, the human actor that transforms to/from the Beast. In reality, that is kind of the point since Belle is supposed to fall in love with him, but to each their own.

From fishy ships to child endangerment, and slaves to equal pay, the headlines of March are quite a wild bunch. It’s a great feeling to know that politics around the world are slowing down in the media, but nobody can say the same for violence and that is an absolute shame. We can only hope for the best of the best to rise up in April, Friar Mustache will surely be praying for it.
