5 Unforgetable Lessons You Learn From The Guy Who Broke Your Heart

Everybody will feel a broken heart at least once in their lifetime. In order to survive, we need to find the lessons behind that painful feeling of rejections and breakups. The more lessons we learn from a painful experience, the wiser we will become to live the life ahead of us. Here are 5 lessons that I learned after I had a broken heart:

1. Don’t fall in love too easily

At first, I saw him as the most flawless person on earth. There was nothing wrong with his attitudes, behaviors, and his words were the sweetest thing I had ever heard. I was enchanted by his physical charms. Now, I realize that there is no such thing as love at first sight. However, I do believe in lust at first sight. Don’t fall easily into people’s charm because in order to love someone, you need to know them well. Before you love someone, you must learn and dig deeper about them; find out their passions, how they do things, and get them angry so you know how they behave in their worst circumstances. Don’t judge someone too early and make sure that once you fall deeply in love with someone; they will love you in return.

2. Always trust your gut

Many people say that you have to follow your heart, but I think what they actually mean is; you have to follow your gut. If you feel that there is something wrong with your relationship, maybe there actually is. Follow your gut by proving it; if you’re in doubt and looking for some answers from your significant other, then ask, discuss, and solve. Be brave enough to face the reality of your relationship because it is the only way for you to protect your heart. Always remember that real love will give you nothing but security and consistency. Learn to read the signs and be brave to take action even if  it means you have to let go.

3. You should be treated the way you want to be treated

For me, a broken heart means I haven’t been treated right by someone and that pain in the chest was the sign that I need to let go and move on. It is never too late to start over and always remember that you are precious; you should be treated like a lady and never less. I know it’s hard to let go, but please stand for your own well-being and give your true self only for those who will treat you right. Someday, you will meet that person who is kinder to you than you are to yourself; and those kinds of people are the ones you should never let go.

4. Always love yourself first

After I experienced the pain of a broken heart, I realized that we actually have to love ourselves first before we fall in love with other people. Always remember that if you are content with yourself, you won’t need to chase anybody else. The people who truly love you will stay without being asked. If you love yourself, the relationship that you build with the people around you will full of blessings and gratitude; not dependent and poisonous. The more you love yourself, the more ready and secure you are to fall in love.

5. Love means being vulnerable

Love means being fragile, opening yourself up to another person, and trusting them not to break you. There is no guarantee that the people you love will love you forever. Make peace with your broken heart and believe that the pain will go away with time. You are one of the chosen people who are lucky to experience love and a broken heart; it means that the universe is giving you the chance to be alive. Cherish the butterflies, the excitement rush, and the pain that you felt in the chest when the people you love have decided to leave you behind. The rollercoaster ride of falling in love will teach you how to live your life better than it used to be; you will get the lessons by being vulnerable.

At the end of the day, don’t blame yourself for having a broken heart because it’s not a flaw. If you have a broken heart, heal it by yourself, get up, and love again with a better way; don’t stop being the one who loves deeply, the true love will find you at the right time soon. Do not give up to love; because if love is not the most beautiful thing within a human being, I don’t know what else is.
