Shonda Rhimes, the woman behind the pages of our beloved female characters from Grey’s Anatomy, How To Get Away With Murder, and Scandal, has put her faith in yet another powerful woman.
Hillary Clinton.
And, not only does Shonda vow to stand with Hillary, so do the actresses that portray her female leads. Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo, How To Get Away With Murder star Viola Davis, and Scandal star Kerry Washington, are also endorsing Hillary, alongside Shonda. This simple video, approved by none other than the Clinton campaign, shows all four women announcing their support of Hillary, and explaining that they are choosing her due to their perceptions of who she is as a woman.
Each actress leverages their roles, as a strong and independent woman who does not give up when faced with challenges, to point out the type of woman Hillary is. She is strong; she fights for what she wants; she does not let people walk all over her. These are great qualities! I am all for girl power! But does being, or even representing, a powerful woman mean that one must vote for Hillary? Only time will tell if Hillary makes it to the Whitehouse, but for now, I’m happy to see strong women getting engaged with the election!
